FICA Verification & Driver’s Licence
To protect our fleet and comply with South African insurance and National Road Traffic regulations, upload your South African Driver’s Licence (Code B or EB) and Proof of Residence. Approvals take under 15 minutes during operating hours.

Secure Online Payment & Deposit
Pay your rental total and refundable security deposit (from R200) via Visa/Mastercard, Ozow Instant EFT, or direct bank transfer. Official Tax Invoice and Receipt are issued instantly.
Depot Handover & Digital Inspection
Arrive at our Botshabelo depot for collection. Our fleet technician completes a joint 9-point digital condition inspection (lights, tyres, coupler, safety chains, spare wheel) signed off on a mobile device.
Return & Prompt Deposit Settlement
Return the trailer in clean working condition. Following a rapid return inspection check, your security deposit is released promptly back to your bank account or card.
Legal Compliance
South African Driver's Licence & Towing Rules
Under the South African National Road Traffic Act (Act 93 of 1996), different driver's licence codes dictate what trailers your vehicle can legally tow on public roads:
Light Trailers Up to 750 kg GVM
- ✓Can legally tow unbraked luggage trailers, 1.8m & 2.1m venter trailers, and light mesh utility trailers with a Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) under 750 kg.
- ✓Tare weight of towing vehicle must be at least double the GVM of the unbraked trailer.
- ✕Cannot tow heavy braked furniture trailers, livestock trailers, or car transporters.
Heavy Trailers Exceeding 750 kg GVM
- ✓Can tow our entire fleet, including 3.5m enclosed furniture trailers, mobile refrigerated chiller trailers, and livestock trailers.
- ✓Trailer must be fitted with an overrun braking system and safety breakaway cable.
- ✓Total combination mass (GVM of towing vehicle + GVM of trailer) must not exceed 3,500 kg unless licensed for heavy code (Code C1/EC1).
Road Safety
Pre-Departure Safety Checklist
Every PK IT Trading trailer is handed over fully serviced, but always confirm the following before driving off:
Coupler Lock Engaged
Ensure the tow ball coupler handle drops completely and the locking pin is securely in place.
Safety Chains Crossed
Cross the safety chain under the coupler before attaching it with the rated D-shackle to catch the drawbar in an emergency.
7-Pin Light Plug Functioning
Test brake lights, both indicators, and park lights before leaving the depot with assistance from our staff.
Jockey Wheel Fully Retracted
Wound completely up and clamped tight parallel to the drawbar so it cannot vibrate loose while travelling.
Balanced Weight Distribution
Load 60% of the weight in the front half of the trailer over the axle. Never load heavy items behind the axle to prevent fishtailing.
Tyre Pressures & Wheel Nuts
All our tyres are inflated to manufacturer specification and wheel nuts torqued prior to customer handover.
